For as long as I can remember, I&rsquo;ve been loyal to my <a href="https://www.lofficielmalaysia.com/beauty/1703-things-you-want-to-know-before-buying-the-new-genaration-dyson-airwrap-tm-mu">Dyson Airwrap</a>. Though undeniably a splurge, as someone with thick, long hair who can&rsquo;t commit to a perm, this multitasking styler has been life-changing. So, when Dyson announced the launch of a new generation, the Airwrap Co-anda 2x, I was super intrigued &ndash; could it really get any better?

Read on for my unboxing and honest thoughts:

THE LOOK
Between the two colourways, Ceramic Pink and Jasper Plum, I chose the former in a heartbeat. Unlike my other <a href="https://www.lofficielmalaysia.com/beauty/i-tried-the-new-dyson-supersonic-flyaway-smoother-and-it-makes-my-daily-styling-a">Dyson hair tools</a> in shiny metallic, it feels soft and velvety to the touch. As soon as I picked up the Airwrap Co-anda 2x, I noticed how much lighter and smaller in diameter it is with an ergonomic oval base. Those classic sliders for power, speed, temperature, and cold shot have also been replaced with buttons and rearranged for more intuitive control.

THE TECHNOLOGY
The name kind of gives it away, but the Airwrap Co-anda 2x delivers double the airflow than the OG thanks to the Hyperdymium 2 motor, meaning faster drying and easier wrapping. Apparently, it&rsquo;s also smarter. The new RFID attachments remember your go-to settings, and Bluetooth lets you connect the tool to the MyDyson app to activate i.d. curl, a styling programme personalised to your hair profile.

THE ATTACHMENTS
Speaking of attachments, a lot of thoughtful re-engineering went into perfecting them. The all-new AirSmooth2x was the first to catch my attention. It reminded me of Airstrait at first glance, but it&rsquo;s actually more of a finishing tool, using non-heated contact bars and high-velocity air tension to align strands, reduce volume, and tame flyaways. The brushes have been redesigned with a soft, nylon-esque material for better control and comfort from roots to ends. If you take a closer look, you&rsquo;ll also notice the paddle now features hook bristles with loop tips. As for the Co-anda2x&trade; curling barrels, they come with angular tips for improved grip and twist distance&mdash;another little but oh-so-good update! And to keep up with the stronger Coanda airflow, Dyson also brings back the signature oval loop design for the Fast dryer 2x.

THE TEST-DRIVE
Test-driving a new Dyson drop is never not exciting, and since I didn&rsquo;t get to try the previous-gen Airwrap i.d., I was looking forward to trying i.d. curl with my Co-anda 2x. Setting up the tool with my hair profile in the MyDyson app was a breeze&mdash;and then the airflow blew me away. I could literally feel a pull the second I turned it on, but it was completely comfortable and pleasant to use. In less than two minutes, my thick, long hair was already halfway damp for styling! As much as I love the OG oval loop&rsquo;s aesthetic, its airflow felt less focused than the Coanda smoothing dryer&rsquo;s, so I set the speed lower to avoid frizz. 
i.d. curl turned out to know my hair better than I do. Basically, it intelligently sets the perfect timing for wrapping, styling, and setting (cold shot) each strand based on your hair type, length and style goals, so that you don&rsquo;t have to count the seconds. At first, I wasn&rsquo;t sure if the automated programme could give enough definition and staying power, but the curls came out consistent, silky, and bouncy. Without any texturising spray, it took them a good few hours to soften into the kind of gorgeous, lived-in waves I like. The whole styling process felt so much easier and faster, the stronger airflow also meant I could style thicker sections at once. Best of all, it protects my hair from overexposure to heat.
I haven&rsquo;t stopped talking about the Round volumising brush 2x since I got my Airwrap Co-anda 2x. The old round brush with faux boar bristles used to snag my hair all the time, and every attempt to use it ended in a tangling disaster. So, when I tried the Round volumising brush 2x for the first time, I was hopeful but never expected it to work so smoothly with just the right tension. Honestly, god bless the soft nylon bristles. I&rsquo;ve been reaching for it almost every day for silky, natural texture. For my bangs, I lower the airflow and heat to lift the roots, and gently pull the brush down to create a flowy movement.
Dyson also upgraded the Airwrap&rsquo;s safety mechanism. The tool only works with an attachment is secured in place, and the curling barrels and AirSmooth2x stop on their own once they&rsquo;re done with a section. Even when you set the tool down, the airflow automatically eases off so nothing goes flying&mdash;yes, that&rsquo;s how powerful the Coanda 2x is. &nbsp;

THE VERDICTS
Personally, I&rsquo;d say Airwrap Co-anda 2x is really worth the upgrade, with everything from the technology to the attachments so thoughtfully improved. If you're thinking about upgrading your OG Airwrap, or getting your first one, I&rsquo;d recommend the Airwrap Co-anda 2x&mdash;you get the convenience of the smart i.d. curl alongside all other other upgrades. Plus, starting the new year by treating yourself to an Airwrap? Totally justified.
