All you need to know about Victoria's Secret 2017 in Shanghai

by Calvin Chong
It that time of the year again where we all wished we can be angels. Victoria's Secret Angels to be exact.

It was an absolute uproar a few weeks before the 2017 Victoria's Secret show in Shanghai when news of models being banned from entering China along with Katy Perry, who was set to perform at the event.

But alas, the show went with minimal hitches (Ming Xi fell on the runway!) and there's still a strong line-up of performers present including Harry Styles, MiguelLeslie Odom Jr., Li Yundi and Jane Zhang.

While we all have to wait for the show to air on TV on 29th November (11 AM, GMT), here's all the big moments you need to know about the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai.

Candice is back!

After giving birth to her beautiful baby boy Anacan, the much-loved VS Angel Candice Swanepoel is back on the runway and she has never looked better.

After missing the show last year (she was watching it just like us – on TV), Candice opened the show and we almost hyperventilated.

Harry's style is on-point

We have to say, the new Harry Styles is one that we can definitely get along with. He is the most stylish one from the One Direction gang (we think).

And for his performance at the show, you will expect nothing less from Harry as he serenades us in a sleek pastel Gucci suit (a departure from his Gucci-wardrobed concert looks).

Harry sure has his style going in the right direction!

Record number of Chinese models

This year also marks the year when Victoria's Secret cast the record number of Chinese models for the show – a total of EIGHT (which topped last year's record of four).

Joining our favourite Liu Wen is models Sui He, Ming Xi, Shu PeiXiao Wen Ju, Xin Xie and Estelle Chen. That's seven of them.

The last model (number 8) is one chosen via a Chinese reality TV show and you'll know who it is when the show airs on TV.

And let's hope VS will maintain this for the years ahead! So far, no numbers are given for the exact number of Asian models (from other ethnicities) present for the show.

She fell and got back up like a pro

And speaking of the girls, Ming Xi sure topped the headlines for the show when she had a major fall on the runway.

Why? Because she nailed it and came back up gracefully and stomped the runway like the many others before her including Naomi Campbell, Karlie Kloss and more (see the gallery below for a take-by-take).

And who can flag or criticise that smile of hers? #WELOFFIT!

Lais and her million dollar look

An annual star of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the million-dollar Fantasy Bra is one we look forward to the most.

This year, VS Angel Lais Ribeiro took the crowning glory and walked out in a US$ 2 million bra by Mouawad.

Name the "Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra", the masterpiece is made of diamonds, yellow sapphires and blue topaz, with a total of over 600 carats.

Like Lais, we also cried when we saw it!

Victoria's Secret x Balmain

And one cannot talk about the show in Shanghai without mentioning the exciting collaboration between Victoria's Secret and Balmain.

The first partnership of the two, helmed by Balmain's designer Olivier Rousteing, the Victoria's Secret 2017 Fashion Show saw the signature VS angels (The OG Squad), including Karlie Kloss, Alessandro Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Lily Aldridge and more, parade down the runway in studs, metal and punk-rock-filled looks.
