A wave of exciting hospitality concepts has steadily arrived in Kuala Lumpur over the past few years, and the latest to join the city’s ever-growing landscape is Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur, marking Kimpton’s Malaysian debut.&nbsp;

Inspired by the concept of “Botanics Beyond Aesthetics”, the hotel’s interior design extends the country’s lush greenery indoors. Upon stepping into the lobby, we were immediately welcomed by a spacious, high-ceiling setting filled with natural plants and trees, complemented by earthy palettes, forest-green tones and organic textures that instantly set a calming mood.

The tribute to Malaysia only continues from there. Spread across 26 storeys, the hotel’s 466 guestrooms and suites feature abstract artworks inspired by Malaysian rainforests, contrasted with bold-hued tiles, leaf-shaped mirrors and gilded bathroom finishes. The one-bedroom suite, in particular, stood out with its spacious living area, a thoughtfully stocked minibar featuring local treats — think Pandan Gula Melaka Granola, Salted Egg Yolk potato crisps and Pasa Cola — and our favourite touch of all: sweeping views of Merdeka 118 and KL Tower straight from the bedroom. Safe to say, waking up to that view instantly put us in a good mood.

For early risers, the gym — which faces the sunrise and offers complimentary personal training sessions daily — sits adjacent to the pool, open from 8am onwards, making it easy to kickstart the morning on a high note. Guests can then head over to Kimpton Kickstart, the hotel’s quick grab-and-go “morning energiser” located at the lobby floor, serving simple yet satisfying options including kaya margarine toast, dates and oats protein balls, alongside drinks such as cold brew coffee, teh tarik and more.&nbsp;

For a more substantial start to the day, we opted for the buffet breakfast at Tuai + Till, the hotel’s dual-dining venue. While lunch and dinner spotlight farm-to-table, fermentation-driven menus, mornings here are centred around an expansive breakfast spread. Standouts included the freshly squeezed juices, a salad bar featuring hydroponic vegetables, a nasi lemak station and an assortment of local kuih — all of which quickly became favourites at the table.
The rest of the dining experiences are equally well considered. Shortly after check-in, Kimpton Social — a daily complimentary evening social hour running from 5pm to 6pm — invited us to mingle over curated chef bites and drinks by Four Siblings. Later, after a short stroll through The Exchange TRX, conveniently connected via the hotel lift, we made our way to Sabato's, a retro-inspired Italian-American restaurant serving hearty family-style dishes against a vibrant ’70s-inspired backdrop.

Our meal began with the signature Godfather’s Meatballs, served in a delectably rich Sunday gravy, followed by the Sabato’s Spicy Rigatoni that truly needs no introduction, alongside a beautifully executed chicken parmigiana and a side of Caesar salad. To end on a sweeter note, the Knickerbocker Glory sundae — layered with stracciatella gelato, cherries, berries, sponge cake and chocolate sauce — proved every bit as indulgent as it sounds.

As the only rooftop bar in the area, Four Siblings Bar made for the perfect nightcap destination. Named after four essential spices — star anise, cardamom, clove and cinnamon — both its food and cocktail offerings revolve around these aromatic ingredients. Standouts included the aptly named Warning: Cigarette is Addictive, made with spiced rum, honeyed clove syrup, bitters and dark chocolate, as well as the tequila-based Rosca. Non-drinkers are equally catered for with the Guava Mule, a refreshing mocktail made with guava nectar, ginger beer and fresh lime, which proved just as enjoyable.

Before checking out, we also stopped by Rise &amp; Grind, the hotel’s contemporary grab-and-go espresso bar located on the ground floor. Serving homegrown Liberica coffee beans sourced from local suppliers, the café also offers signature lattes and sandwiches that rotate monthly — the perfect final touch before checking out from the urban oasis and heading back to the hustle and bustle of the city.
