At L'Officiel Malaysia, we are all about promoting the rising stars of the fashion industry – be it models, PR managers, fashion designers or photographers.

And for our second "Crush" series, we decided to look closer to home for a designer that is unlike any other – one that makes amazingly fashionable wearable art!

And she is, none other than, Man Chien (@manchien).

Man Chien, Designer, Malaysia

Who's this designer?

A relatively fresh designer to the scene, who debuted her first collection in 2014, Man Chien has been making waves in the Malaysian fashion scene with her namesake label.

Identifying herself as a wearable art maker, Man Chien has created countless masterpieces. The first was "The Norns", her first introduction of "Slow Fashion" to the world that explores the human touch in garment making, via artisanal hand-crafting technique.

The result? Countless collections of art-gallery-worthy pieces that are still wearable and chic.

"Garments are like blank canvases to me, the paintings on them are to tell stories, to portrait messages, that inspired thoughts-interaction between the wearer and the maker."

Why she's one to watch?

For a label that started for barely three years, Man Chien has come a long way.

From getting stocked in Southeast Asia's leading online retailer to having her own runway presentation in Shanghai (that aroused much attention in the region), the designer and her label have earned the stamps of approval by the most discerning fashionistas around the globe.

With her masterful pieces of art, she reminds us a little of international stars like Viktor & Rolf and Maison Margiela who constantly marry art and fashion in their works.

One thing's for sure, the only way Man Chien is going right now is up!
