Maybe it&rsquo;s all the movies and TV shows about healing and wellness, but whenever I hear &ldquo;wellness club,&rdquo; my mind goes straight to a secluded island or a quiet forest cabin &mdash; places where signal drops, the kind of escape that isn&rsquo;t always easy to commit to. Which is why stepping into ĀMAN&Iuml; Biohacking Club, located right in the heart of Bangsar, on a Tuesday morning, felt almost a little unreal.
&ldquo;ĀMAN&Iuml; means peace in South African knowledge,&rdquo; Yap Yann Fang, founder of the wellness centre, explained as we ascended upstairs to the 30,000 sq ft penthouse. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s ultimately what we all want, and it&rsquo;s not easy; it&rsquo;s a harmony of body and mind.&rdquo; Here, clean geometry meets textural naturals to evoke a gentle rhythm and warmth. I felt a raw, calming energy in the sanctuary, with the panoramic view of the KL cityscape stretching out before my eyes.

Yap continued to share the philosophy behind ĀMAN&Iuml;: &ldquo;Biohacking is about making smart, intentional improvements to your biology, sometimes as simple as sun-soaking to regulate your circadian rhythm, or setting a screen-time curfew for better sleep.&rdquo; She noted that we can rely on science and technology to take things further, enhancing performance, effectiveness and longevity. In addition to its state-of-the-art biohacking facilities &mdash; including Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, Emsculpt, Balkan AI Strength &amp; Resistance, Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) Therapy, and more &mdash;the club also features cosy, lounging spaces like the Meditation Cave, Salt Pool, Alfresco Space, and BioCharger Lounge because Yap believes in building community and making conversations.
&ldquo;The best way to do anything is to do it together, and that goes for living better, too,&rdquo; she said. After years in beauty and wellness, Yap observed that leaders and visionaries in our country are somewhat behind their overseas peers when it comes to wellbeing. &ldquo;Why aren&rsquo;t we living better when Malaysia is so blessed with natural abundance?&rdquo; she wondered, and later realised it was probably because of a lack of conversations around it. That inspired her to start a wellness club that encourages connections, which she described as building an ecosystem for the members.

Each member&rsquo;s journey is supported by a team. &ldquo;A functional medicine doctor looks after your blood work and health, a dietitian guides you through nutrition and supplementation, a physiotherapist helps work on posture and performance, and a relationship manager oversees the entire journey,&rdquo; Yap shared. During my visit, the crew recommended the club&rsquo;s latest Superhuman Protocol, and I took the opportunity for a little vitality hacking.
Designed for the unstoppable, the Superhuman Protocol is a non-invasive three-step procedure that integrates Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), Red Light Therapy (RLT), and NeuroVIZR. &ldquo;Together, they work in synergy to optimise cellular performance, recovery, and neurological resilience,&rdquo; explained the physio. She walked me through what to expect: &ldquo;PEMF revitalises cellular signalling, circulation, and recovery at a foundational level; HBOT boosts oxygen saturation for overall clarity and vitality; and at the end, RLT is paired with NeuroVIZR to stimulate mitochondrial function.&rdquo;
The physio led me into a treatment room, laying me down on the contour bed, and activated my PEMF session. For a first-timer like me, she set the magnetic field to a comfort level that was also effective. By delivering gentle electromagnetic pulses that penetrate deep into the body, PEMF Therapy helps cells to communicate better, and that means better blood circulation, reduced inflammation and faster recovery. I felt a rhythmic pulsing across the treated areas, a bit like an acupuncture session, but much more soothing and I actually dozed off. As I got up and moved to the next phase, my body felt lighter, and the tension on my neck and shoulders was relieved.

Next up was the HBOT, engineered to supercharge cellular metabolism and recovery pathways. I didn&rsquo;t expect the dual seating, LED ambient lighting, and Netflix in the chamber, with plenty of space, you could totally bring someone along for a hangout, or a date. I also wasn&rsquo;t quite ready for the sharp discomfort in my ear when the pressure began to rise. It was much more intense than the usual ringing, and I had to end the session there. I later learned that my nasal allergy could be to blame because even a small sinus block could affect how it felt. So, for those who have similar ENT sensitivities, it&rsquo;s a good idea to mention it to your physio.
Despite the little hiccup with HBOT, the last session was pure relaxation and was also my first time trying RLT together with NeuroVIZR. In the lounge, I settled in front of a medical-grade LED system, wearing the NeuroVIZR headband and headphones. I sat back, closed my eyes, and let rhythmic flashes and soundscape guide my brain into a deeply relaxed state &mdash; I went for sleep mode on the app. At the same time, the red light worked its magic, stimulating cellular energy production to encourage muscle recovery, skin renewal and neuroprotective processes. When the 30 minutes were up, the entire protocol came to an end. It honestly felt like I&rsquo;d just woken up from the best nap ever and was ready to head straight back into the workday. Before leaving, I noticed some members with their devices in hand, catching up on small tasks between sessions, unhurried and calm. I took it as a sign and thought wellness doesn&rsquo;t have to mean disconnecting from everything else.
