Say hello to the brand’s first wet-and-dry robot vacuum.

Robot vacuums have been all the rage in recent years for good reason. As our schedules get busier, the convenience of having your floors cleaned automatically while you're at work or out running errands is hard to ignore. And as someone who's been on the robot vacuum bandwagon since the early days, I was naturally curious to see what the much-talked-about Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai would bring to the table.
It’s important to note that this is not Dyson's first foray into the category — the company first introduced the DC06 back in 2001 and has continued refining its robotics technology ever since. Fast forward to today, the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai marks the brand's first wet-and-dry robot vacuum, engineered to seek, identify and eliminate hidden stains using advanced AI.&nbsp;

Let's start with first impressions. Straight out of the box, one thing stood out immediately: its size. The setup comprises a sizeable multifunction dock measuring 455mm tall and 508mm wide — but for good reason. Fully automated, the three cannisters take care of dustbin emptying, mop washing with hot water, hot-air drying and clean water refilling with minimal intervention. Weighing 6.6kg, the robot itself is also one of the largest robot vacuums I've come across on the market, although that's not something you'll notice once it's all set up.

Inspired by how humans spot-clean, the Spot+Scrub™ Ai follows a three-step cleaning process. It first detects visible and invisible dirt using an AI-powered camera alongside green laser-like illumination, adapts its cleaning behaviour in real time, then reassesses the floor and continues cleaning until the stain has been removed.
Navigation is equally intelligent. Using LiDAR together with AI vision, the robot recognises up to 200 types of household objects — including common obstacles such as cables, socks and shoes — allowing it to map rooms efficiently while making smart decisions on where and how to clean.
Another standout is its self-cleaning microfiber wet roller. Equipped with a 12-point hydration system, it continuously delivers fresh heated water while cleaning. The roller also extends up to 40mm, allowing it to clean much closer to skirting boards where dust tends to collect.

After switching to the Spot+Scrub™ Ai for two weeks, I was genuinely impressed with the overall cleaning performance across both tiled floors and carpets. Hair pickup, in particular, was excellent — something I (especially my husband) quickly came to appreciate during daily use.
Another feature I appreciated was the bagless self-emptying dock. The transparent dust canisters make it easy to see when they're ready to be emptied, and the process itself feels very familiar if you've used Dyson's cordless vacuums before. Simply hold the canister over a bin, pull the lever and the bottom swings open and pushes out the debris inside — easy does it.
Since I'm already using a Dyson air purifier, I appreciated having everything controlled through the MyDyson™ app. Whether I'm heading home from work or expecting guests, it's convenient to start both appliances remotely before I arrive. Last but not least, battery life also proved more than sufficient for my compact condo, consistently completing an entire cleaning session in a single run without needing to recharge midway.

That said, no robot vacuum is perfect. I did notice that very small debris occasionally remained in tighter corners, and because of its taller profile, it couldn't reach underneath some of my lower furniture. Noise is another thing worth mentioning. The robot can get fairly loud during certain tasks, particularly when climbing onto rugs or docking and undocking itself. Personally, it wasn't much of an issue since I usually schedule cleaning runs when I'm out of the house, but it's something to keep in mind if you prefer running it while you're home.
With a busy schedule — and a baby on the way — I've found myself relying on the Spot+Scrub™ Ai to keep my floors consistently clean between deeper weekend cleans. While it's certainly an investment, the convenience and intelligent cleaning make it one that's well worth considering for the long run.
