W Hotel’s passion on creating meaningful spaces has entailed the acclaimed G.A Design’s conception of mesmerising interiors that capture Shanghai’s distinct blend of colonial glamour and futuristic flair. What you get is a stunning exhibition of the city’s multifaceted alluring mystique from start to finish.

An eclectic welcome greets arriving guests immediately in the form of neon light installations through the living room. This translates to a modern yet artistic reinterpretation of the beautiful chaos of freshly washed laundry hanging on lines along the city’s narrow laneways filled with fluorescent business signs.

Moving on, the kaleidoscopic fixture at the reception area re reflects the constant flow of guests through the area while the ‘Melting Qipao’ pattern adorning the walls of the restroom elegantly depicts the melting pot of cultures in Shanghai.

And it gets better. Nearly all of the 374 stylish guestrooms and suites boast limitless, stunning views of the vast Huangpu River, thanks to the uniquely curved frame of the building’s structure. Aside from its visually arresting interior and soothing furnishings, it is also worth highlighting the enormous signature W beds accented with fluffy chopsticks and gold lamé dumpling cushions for that extra touch of playfulness.

Leaving the bedrooms are resort amenities like a 24-hour gym and the excellent Away Spa for those looking for a much- needed detox, while a fabulous outdoor pool offers incredible sweeping views of the electric Shanghai skyline.

And located on the fifth and sixth floor is the sleek Cantonese restaurant Yen, offering the full Chinese cuisine experience by serving up a delightful array of Shanghai local dishes and traditional Cantonese cuisine with a creative modern twist to stimulate those taste buds.

For the heartiest weekend brunch, New York bistro-themed The Kitchen Table is the place to be. Having just launched its “Social Retox” Sunday Brunch, guests can now craft their own gourmet experience at the hotel through three packages covering its specialty charcuterie and raw bars, to a grand selection of premium cuts of imported meats and fresh seafood offerings, and right down to its hottest pastry pantry.
