Following the inspiring tale with Claire Tan for our "In Her Own Way" series, in collaboration with Bvlgari, we now turn the spotlight to model and actress Nia Atasha.
For Nia Atasha, a willingness to take chances has opened doors she never expected. What began with saying yes to a beauty shoot at 17 has grown into a career spanning modelling, acting and storytelling, with each chapter giving her another way to express herself.
Much like Bvlgari’s "Eternally Iconic" creations, where a distinctive identity endures while continuing to evolve, Nia believes the most memorable work comes from knowing what you stand for. Behind every image, performance, or project is an attention to detail and, above all, an intention to make people feel something.
In this chapter of "In Her Own Way", Nia talks about taking chances, refining her craft and using her growing platform to create work that leaves an impression and, perhaps, opens doors for others along the way.

You have carved out a very different space for yourself within this industry. Was there one choice or leap of faith that changed the direction of your career?
There have been many many choices I made for myself that brought me here today; almost all of it was really just a leap of faith and telling myself to just "f-it". But the one thing that really changed the trajectory of my life and my career path was really saying yes to a Seventeen magazine beauty shoot when I was 17 years old, fresh post SPM examinations.
I was pretty shy throughout my teen years, I think, and saying yes to that opportunity was definitely one of those leaps-of-faith moments because it wasn’t something I really saw myself doing, but I thought, why not?
How has your definition of being “good” at what you do changed since you first started?
When I first started, being “good” meant getting things right, like being recognised, booked or validated by others. Over time, I’ve realised it’s less about perfection and more about having a clear point of view, staying curious and creating work that feels honest. Now, being good at what I do means continuing to evolve without losing the part of me that made me begin.

When you create something, do you think about the impact it might have on others?
Always. I think creating something is a form of communication, so I’m conscious of what it might make someone feel or believe is possible. I don’t think every piece of work needs to carry a grand message, but I hope mine can make someone feel seen, understood or inspired, even if it’s simply through a moment of joy or connection.
Trends are always changing. How do you stay current while still staying true to yourself?
I stay curious and aware of what’s happening, but I don’t feel the need to follow every trend. I take what genuinely resonates with me and interpret it through my own perspective. Trends can be a great source of inspiration, but I think having a strong sense of self is what gives your work longevity. For me, staying current is about evolving, not becoming someone else.

Behind what people eventually see is often years of refining your craft. What part of your craft are you most particular about, and why?
I’m most particular about storytelling…making sure there’s intention behind everything I create. Whether it’s a performance, a piece of content, or a project I’m building, I always think about how it makes people feel.
I can obsess over the smallest details because, to me, the best work should feel effortless, even when there are years of thought, refinement and experience behind it. I never want something to simply look good. I want it to feel honest and leave an impression.
Bvlgari is known for pieces that are distinctive enough to be recognised yet designed to transcend generations. What do you hope people will remember about your work years from now? 
I hope people remember that my work always came from a place of honesty and intention. Whether through acting, storytelling or the spaces I’ve created for others, I want it to have made people feel seen and encouraged them to believe in their own possibilities.
More than any single project, I hope I’m remembered for building my own doors and holding them open for others.
