Intelligent, charismatic, humane and fearless, the late Princess Diana is a woman many loved and looked up to, and things are no different for Tory Burch, who draws inspiration from Diana’s early years in the ’80s to realise her vision for Spring/Summer 2020.
In her show notes, she says, “I took my cue from Diana Spencer, whom I have been fascinated with since I was young. She left a legacy of giving back that embodies what I admire most, one that has been instilled in our foundation and company since the beginning.”
And from there, Burch wraps herself in a world of English garden florals, delicate pastels and a soft touch of easy exuberance of the Eighties. On the runway, the waists were cinched, pants were billowing and silhouettes were flowing with ease and nonchalance, but there was an aura of restraint, poise and
charisma in the forms of tailored button-downs, trench coats, and cardigans—something that truly reminds us of the life of Diana Spencer, one that is delightful and tender with a constant sense of refined elegance.
As the models weaved through, following a complex runway choreography inside the Brooklyn Museum, now decorated with florals, vines and garden benches, the mood was quintessentially English but in a very Tory way.
When supermodel Natalia Vodianova entered the space in a dress constructed with embroidered handkerchiefs, we knew that we were in for a treat! From English floral prints to classic stripes and plaids; crisp chiné taffeta; and pops of pastel hues of melon, lavender, and lemon; the Tory Burch Spring/ Summer 2020 collection is a joyful addition for every woman who wants to bring out the confidence in them with pride, love and energy.
